In 2015, I started working with the film director Alberto Arvelo designing the projection mapping animations for the concert "A Midsummer Night's Dream" composed by Mendelssohn, based on the comedy written by William Shakespeare.
The concert has been conducted by Gustavo Dudamel in three different locations; Hollywood Bowl L.A. 2015, Princeton University N.J. 2019 and Castell de Peralada Spain 2019.
We decided to give life to some of the most famous paintings created by inspiration of Shakespeare’s comedy. Using 2.5D animations and 3D camera movements, we created a selection of scenes in which the characters were alive and surrounded by a magic world.
We wanted to transport the public to the fantastic world of the play, so we decided to create some atmospheric projections that could take advantage of each of the scenario's architecture. These projections represented the environments and emotions occurring during the story.
