The Creation
Projection Mapping

In 2016, I worked with the film director Alberto Arvelo in a very exciting and ambitious project. The Los Angeles Philharmonic and its conductor Gustavo Dudamel wanted us to represent through images and animations the story of Haydn's "The Creation" for an upcoming concert on winter 2016.

As a canvas to project our animations we had the astonishing architecture of the Walt Disney Concert Hall, designed by Frank Gehry.
We challenged ourselves to imagine a fresh, subjective and emotional representation of Haydn's masterpiece.

From chaos to order and from the stars to the creation of humankind, we wanted to tell an emotional story full of meaning and introspection about the role of humanity in this planet and the universe. We used a wide range of animation styles, taking advantage of each one to represent the different stages of creation.
« With texts drawn from the Bible and John Milton’s poetry, Haydn’s timeless masterpiece is a monumental yet delightful vision of God creating the world, bursting with imagination, wit and beauty. »
- L.A. Phil -
Taking advantage of the unique design of the concert hall, we decided to use four 4K projectors aimed at the ceiling, side walls and front wall in order to create an immersive experience for the concert.
