In 2015, I had the privilege of teaming up with film director Alberto Arvelo, where we collaborated on designing projection mapping animations for the concert "A Midsummer Night's Dream," featuring Mendelssohn's beautiful composition inspired by William Shakespeare's comedy.
Since the inaugural performance at the Hollywood Bowl in 2015, guided by the direction of Gustavo Dudamel, our enchanting concert has graced two additional venues: Princeton University in N.J. in 2019 and Castell de Peralada in Spain in the same year. Throughout this creative journey, we endeavored to breathe life into cherished paintings inspired by Shakespeare's timeless work.
Using 2.5D animations and 3D camera movements, our joint effort resulted in scenes where characters came alive within a magical world. Our goal was to immerse the audience in the fantastical realm of the play. To achieve this, we crafted atmospheric projections tailored to complement the unique architecture of each venue, representing the diverse environments and emotions woven into the narrative.
